Sampler Aux Chats SAL August 31, 2011Posted by totallythreadup in Uncategorized.

Since my progress pic last month I put this piece down for a few weeks to concentrate on other projects and as there are no colour changes it’s growing very quickly. I’m still enjoying stitching this very much but am going to try and pace myself a little so as not to go too far ahead of the other stitchers in the SAL,Maggie Shio and Sandra (who has not posted any pics yet even though she has promised she will …hmmm lol)
Why not pop over to their blogs and see what they have been up to this month.

Even though I finished stitching part 2 of this lovely sampler yet again I didn’t get around to posting my progress and it’s now time to show part 3. So….to make sure I keep on track here are all my progress pics
Here is part 2
Sampler aux Chats SAL progress is due to be shown on the last day of this month and there is section I want to finish before I take my pic although I’m not sure if I can stitch at the moment as I have picked up a very nasty virus and even though I am feeling more human today I’m still feeling slightly giddy so I’ll see how I get on.

I remembered…. the New Moon on 29 August 2011….wonders will never cease lol
My container looks almost full which shows that even though I haven’t been blogging I HAVE been stitching 🙂 Here is how it looks today
and with a quick shake and a prod – still plenty of room for next month (if I remember)

I am sitting at my computer downloading pics of my stitching in preparation of an attempt at making a post or two. The television is on and I listen to the announcement that another twelve lives have been tragically lost as Hurricane Irene reaches New York. I glance out of my window and see a full vibrant rainbow over the Church.
Only hours earlier I had been moaning about the fact it has been raining most of the day……now I am thinking how lucky I am and my thoughts are with those who have to suffer this tragedy.

It’s been almost two months since my last post – no surprise there – but I’m feeling quite embarrassed at the moment as after inviting other stitchers to join in with Jardin Prive Sampler Aux Chats SAL in June I haven’t posted any progress at all. (We were to post a pic on the last day of each month). Joining me in the SAL is Sandra, Maggie and Shio, a new visitor to my blog from Mexico. She is keen to meet other stitchers and I know she has already read some of your blogs so if you get a minute pop over to her blog and say hi. She is another cat lover and has loads of interesting things on her blog in particular a cute little kitten called Kattalino who has his own story to tell plus she is the only one who actually posted her first month’s progress !!
As Sampler Aux Chats was the only stitching I was working on I really got a bit carried away last month and at one point I thought I might finish before the first post was due but things have gone quite on the stitching front yet again and I’ve hardly picked it up at all this month. One thing I noticed was that there was an error on the chart –the letter G was missing from the alphabet to the right of the cat sliding down the chart. Nathalie (Jardin Prive) has now made a correction and mentioned in her newsletter that I was the first to spot the error. Rather than backtrack here is a pic of my progress for June and July. I am using 32 count white Belfast linen and DMC number 815 and it looks quite striking.
A close up
Anyone want to take bets on whether I will post on time next month 😉
To any Lizzie Kate fans reading Shio has also organised a SAL #149 Autumn Alphabet and I am joining her along with four other stitchers. The SAL is in 6 parts and started the 15 July with the first post on the 30 July and then progress posts every 15 days. It’s a quick and easy stitch so if you want to join in please do – the more the merrier. You can either contact Shio or leave a comment here.
I am stitching this using DMC threads and using 32 count cashel linen – it was left over from my Cirque des Triangles and I’m not sure of the colour but it works well with the threads.

Claire is having a fantastic give away – a Jardin Prive design called “My Lady’s Quaker”. There’s still plenty of time to enter the draw so pop along to her blog and leave her a comment and you could be the lucky winner of this fabulous chart.
Happy Dance – Masquerade June 4, 2011Posted by totallythreadup in Uncategorized.
Started 20 February – Completed 31 May 2011
Stitched on 28 count hand dyed fabric
Polstitches Silver Lining
Using recommended Gentle Arts Sampler Threads
As every Happy Dance calls for a new start I will be doing another SAL with Sandra once she has finished her Masquerade. She is almost there but ran out of one colour thread due to the different count fabric being used. Neither of us can resist anything to do with cats and have decided to stitch Jardin Prive Sampler Aux Chats.
If you would like to join in please leave a comment on this post.
SALs and Queen Lily May 6, 2011Posted by totallythreadup in Uncategorized.

A quick update on the two SALs I am doing, firstly Masquerade. As I went to Swansea for a family visit on Sunday I missed out on stitching so this is my progress as at 24 April. Still waiting to see Sandra’s progress!!! – BUT I did get to see her new craft room – absolutely stunning, the pictures don’t really do it justice – it really is fabulous and she already done some beautiful quilting which I am sure she will share with you soon
Even though I have been religiously stitching each Thursday on this SAL last week I didn’t get around to taking a pic so this is a combination of weeks three and four. I am using some old thread for the gray cat and he’s looking a little tabby!
And Queen Lily finally framed. I’ve used Ian’s camera to try and take a better pic but I must say it looks much better in real life but at least it is now hanging on the wall in a room I use during the daytime so it almost feels like Lily is back home
….and here is the real Lily – can you see the resemblance??
Whilst collecting Queen Lily from the Nimble Thimble I picked up a few charts which were on sale (I’ll post these another time). Ian thought this one looked very much like Lily’s brother Alfie so I am thinking of stitching this to go alongside Queen Lily. The only think that is putting me off is that there is a huge block of stitching in 310 on the right hand side – YUK!!!!

Late again but at least I’m consistent – thanks to those bloggers who manage to post on time and give me a little push!! Not a great deal of difference this month as I’ve done very little stitching. Will try and post on time on the next New Moon 🙂

This week I have been starting work at 9.30 am and as a result I have had a few hours free in the afternoons to put in some stitches. Time seems to just fly by and already it is the weekend, even though I don’t work on a Monday or Friday this weekend actually feels like a holiday, maybe the fact that Ian will be home and that we have outings planned which I am looking forward to.
Part two of the In the Night SAL has been revealed – not so much to stitch this time but I like “not knowing” what is to be stitched next, it makes me feel I am participating in a group rather than just stitch along whenever where I get lazy and think “oh..next week” which often turns into months – my HAED being a prime example. Here is my update
I’ve put a few backstitches around the tail as per the chart but think it looks better without so may unpick them once I have finished the SAL.
I have actually got around to a new start, my first LHN design – Winter Whites which I am stitching on 32 count natural raw linen Zweigart – this fabric has a lovely feel to it – using a combination of threads from DMC, Gentle Art and Weeks Dye Works. Not a great deal to show but I know this is going to stitch up very quickly.
And now for something I have been itching to try for a while. It is a small design from the Gift of Stitching Magazine Issue 46 called Christmas Snowfall a design From Historic Stitches. The fabric is 28 count Wichelt although I am not sure of the shade. I originally bought this with Bramble and the Rose in mind but then decided to use the waterlily shade. The beads I bought locally so have no idea what they are.
I initially started stitching the centrepiece but was going a little off course so stitched the outline first and I was having a little HD a few hours later. I am VERY pleased with the outcome it looks so pretty. I’m not sure how I am going to finish it – all I can say it will have a tassle – something I haven’t tried making before !!
Hope you have a Happy Easter, enjoy the lovely weather and eat loads of chocolate. Tomorrow I am collecting Queen Lily from the framers I can’t wait.
